We are please to announce the return of our OSCE Preparation workshop. With the opening of our new classroom at our head office, we decided to bring back this preparatory course. We have a unique approach to preparing candidates for their Massage Therapy Licensing Exam in Ontario. At the heart of everything we do is the belief in quality education and the belief in our participants ability to use the tools we share and find a way to incorporate these tools into their professional lives...we are just an instrument to facilitate your professional growth. We carry this approach into our OSCE Preparation workshop. That being said, I feel that we should give y'all a bit more insight to our approach in preparing future therapists. Let me first start off by telling you what this workshop is not...
First things first, this is NOT a re-teaching of information already obtained in formal Massage Therapy education. You did that. You passed school. You have a diploma. We go under the assumption that Massage Therapy Colleges and Educators in Massage Therapy Programs are capable of doing what they are supposed to do, to teach you...you learned from them, you were evaluated by them, and they have determined that you acquired the necessary level of competency and proficiency to take the licensing exam, and ultimately practice as a Massage Therapist, at least at an entry level.
Second, we are not going go give you a cookie cutter template, this is not a recipe to follow, this is not a script to memorize. Our goal is to ensure that you understand the expectations, technical requirements, critical thinking skills, and performance involved in each station. This approach requires that you have solid working knowledge and command of the material you were taught in school. If your knowledge base is not quite where you would like it to be, the material in this workshop is most beneficial once you proactively bring yourself up to speed.
Lastly, you do not leave anything out! There are no short cuts! You have a task to perform and you perform that task COMPLETELY, the proper way, despite what previous candidates, previous instructors, previous prep workshops have told you, "you only need to do..." We do not encourage intentionally leaving out potentially valuable information while you are being evaluated.
Now you're probably thinking to yourself, "ummmm i don't get it..."
We believe that a successful candidate is proactive in their studies, therefore great success can come from individuals who are willing to self study based on our recommended study plan. What you can expect: Review of relevant Standards of Practice that apply for each station. Understand the expectations of the candidate for each station. Discuss effective communication and critical thinking involved in each station. Instructor lead practical demonstrations. Supervised practical session with instructor feedback.
Wishing all candidates good luck!!
